Sharper Facility Insight. Flexible Discounts. Transparent Contracts.
At Deerhold, innovation moves quickly. With the PRIZM platform, powered by Deerhold, there's no traditional 6–12-month roadmap—our sprint cycle ensures that client feedback and market needs are rapidly translated into meaningful platform enhancements.
PRIZM Version 5.2, alongside the July 2026 data refresh, delivers powerful new capabilities for brokers, stop-loss carriers, MGUs, TPAs, and healthcare providers—introducing a new Top Facilities Report, an alternative discount calculation methodology in Networks and deeper contract-level transparency in Hospital Comparison.
PRIZM Version 5.2 introduces a new Top Facilities Report, expands Specialty Report comparison to four networks, adds an alternative discount methodology to Networks, and delivers a deeper breakdown of hospital contract pricing.
New Top Facilities Report
Identifying which facilities in a market actually drive utilization—and how their rates compare—has historically meant piecing together multiple reports. The new Top Facilities Report brings this analysis into a single view.
The report lets users customize the geographic area by state, MSA, or distance from a zip 3 or zip 5 code.
The report defaults to the BUCA carriers, but any carrier or network can be selected before running the report.
Users can view Facility name, CCN, Hospital Quality Rating, IPPS/OPPS Weight, and % of Medicare for each Carrier, Network, and Reporter, broken out by Inpatient and Outpatient.
IPPS/OPPS weight is determined by allowed spend in data reported by CMS, and users can drill down on % of Medicare to explore detailed rate data.
Results export to PDF, PPT, or CSV.
What this means for Deerhold clients:
A faster way to identify the highest-utilization facilities in a given geography and see how their rates stack up
One report that combines utilization, quality, and pricing context instead of three
Presentation-ready output for underwriting and broker conversations
Specialty Report – Compare Multiple Networks
The Specialty Report now supports comparison of up to four networks at once, making it easier to identify potential provider coverage gaps/disruption between networks as part of a network evaluation.
What this means for Deerhold clients:
Faster, more complete specialty-network evaluations without running the report multiple times
Clearer identification of coverage gaps across a broader set of network options
Networks – Additional Discount Methodology
The Networks report now includes an alternative methodology for calculating % Discount, giving users a way to smooth out the effect of providers with skewed billed/allowed ratios that can disproportionately impact the overall % discount in smaller geographic areas.
The existing % Discount from Billed Charges metric is unchanged and continues to be derived from provider/code-level billed-allowed ratios.
A new % Discount from Billed Charges – Geo metric has been added, which uses state-level billed-allowed ratios.
What this means for Deerhold clients:
A choice of methodology depending on whether provider-level or geography-level precision better fits the analysis at hand
More stable discount results in smaller or less densely populated geographic areas
Hospital Comparison – Contract Pricing Breakdown
The Hospital Comparison report has been enhanced to present % of Medicare by contract component—for example, showing how much of a hospital's contract is based on negotiated DRG rates versus a percentage of room and board charges.
What this means for Deerhold clients:
Greater visibility into the mechanics behind a hospital's contracted rate, not just the resulting % of Medicare
More informed conversations with hospitals about the structure of a contract, not just its outcome
New Data Enhancements
July 2026 Data Refresh
Data has been updated across all payers, including one new payer, PacificSource. Sagamore Health Network has been dropped from PRIZM as it has exited the commercial business.
What this means for Deerhold clients:
Expanded coverage in markets served by PacificSource
A data set that reflects current market participation, not carriers that have exited the commercial business
Hospital Ownership
Hospital Ownership Affiliation and Primary Owner have been added to Rates data, with a dropdown for easy selection—making it simpler to search, identify, and group hospitals by system.
What this means for Deerhold clients:
Faster system-level rollups and comparisons across hospitals under common ownership
Carrier-Specific Updates
CareFirst: The CareFirst Traditional Indemnity network was removed and replaced with the CareFirst Blue Choice network.
Select Health: Select Health has modified the way files are published, resulting in a change in providers and records included, with a noticeable increase in inpatient rates.
What this means for Deerhold clients:
Network and naming updates that keep PRIZM aligned with how carriers currently structure and publish their data
Why This Release Matters
PRIZM Version 5.2 continues Deerhold's focus on turning current, granular contract data into decisions clients can act on. By pairing a new facility-level view with more flexible discount methodology and deeper contract transparency, PRIZM gives brokers, stop-loss carriers, and TPAs a clearer picture of not just what a network's rates are, but why.
